Nights of Screams: Nights of Fright 12
There is a noticeable shift at Sunway Lagoon once the sun goes down during Nights of Fright 12. The daytime atmosphere disappears under thick fog, flashing lights, loud music and the nervous laughter of visitors waiting to enter.
Once inside, the park feels completely different. White mist covers the walkways while coloured lights cut through the darkness and screams can be heard from different parts of the park. The event feels less like simply visiting a theme park at night and more like entering a constantly moving scare zone.

No Safe Ground Between the Mazes
One of the more interesting parts of Nights of Fright 12 is that the scares don't stop once you leave the haunted attractions.
Roaming scare actors appear throughout the park, meaning even the walk between mazes can turn into part of the experience. A quiet walk with friends can quickly become an unexpected encounter with a character emerging from the fog.
With the rides also operating in the darkness, there is always something happening around you. Roller coasters moving overhead, music and crowds all add to the atmosphere without needing another haunted house.

The Local Folklore Mazes Stand Out
The local folklore-inspired mazes offer a different kind of horror from the more familiar Hollywood-style themes. Dark wooden settings, narrow corridors and low lighting create a more enclosed atmosphere. The anticipation is often more effective than the actual jump scares—you hear something ahead, slow down, and wait for whatever might be around the next corner. The local themes also give these attractions a more distinctive character, especially for visitors familiar with Southeast Asian folklore and horror.
Be Ready for Crowds
The biggest drawback is the waiting time. Nights of Fright can get busy, particularly on peak nights, and queues can take up a significant portion of the evening.
An Xpress option can be worth considering for visitors who want to experience more attractions without spending as much time in line. The park's humidity is another factor, especially when combined with walking and standing for long periods, so comfortable shoes and light clothing are recommended.

Is Nights of Fright 12 Worth Visiting?
Nights of Fright 12 works best as a group experience. The combination of haunted mazes, roaming actors, themed environments and the wider Sunway Lagoon setting gives the evening more variety than visiting a single haunted attraction.
It is not without its downsides—queues, crowds, humidity and plenty of walking are part of the experience. But if those are expected, the event offers a fun night for anyone who enjoys horror and wants something more interactive than simply watching a scary movie.
The best part is the unpredictability. Even between the mazes, there is always the possibility of something appearing through the fog.
And sometimes, not knowing where the next scare is coming from is what makes the night worth remembering.
