Galloping into the Lunar New Year at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur

Known affectionately as the "Grand Dame of Kuala Lumpur," Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur recently opened its doors for an exclusive preview of its Lunar New Year offerings for the upcoming Year of the Horse. The "Imperial Prosperity" showcase provided a first look at a seasonal spread that balances deep-rooted Cantonese traditions with modern culinary artistry.

Celestial Court: The Art of the Reunion

The heart of the celebration remains Celestial Court, the hotel’s signature Cantonese restaurant. This year, the restaurant's culinary team has curated an Imperial Prosperity menu designed to evoke blessings of longevity and harmony.

  • Prosperity Yee Sang: A mandatory festive starter, this version features premium toppings like sliced abalone, sea jellyfish, and snow pear tossed in a traditional plum sauce.

  • Signature Highlights: The tasting menu featured standouts such as the Braised whole baby abalone with sea cucumber and fish maw, and the Signature roasted crispy duck infused with herbs.

  • Refined Spaces: For those seeking privacy, the restaurant offers five distinct dining rooms, ranging from the intimate Crystal Room to the grand Pearl Room, which can accommodate up to 30 guests.

Diverse Dining: From Buffets to High Tea

Beyond the formal set menus, the hotel has expanded its festive reach across its diverse dining venues:

  • Essence (Imperial Fortune & Flavours): For a more vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere, Essence offers a buffet inspired by beloved Malaysian tastes. Highlights include Wok-Fried Crab with Black Pepper Sauce and Eight Treasure Lotus Leaf Rice.

  • Pavilions Lounge (Celestial Spring Tea Affair): Those looking for a serene pause can indulge in a floral-inspired afternoon tea. The spread features delicate creations like Imperial Egg Tarts, Sakura Lychee Mousse, and savoury Peking Duck bites.

  • The Golden Dynasty: Designed for large-scale corporate or family gatherings, this banquet experience offers a choice between a lavish buffet or a 10-course set menu featuring Steamed Tiger Grouper and longevity noodles.

A notable addition to this year’s festivities is the Supreme Spicy Sun-Dried Scallop Sauce. Handcrafted without preservatives or alcohol, this premium condiment, rich with Japanese sun-dried scallops and red chili padi, serves as a distinguished gift for corporate partners or family reunions.

Journalist's Note: Whether you are looking for an intimate afternoon tea or a grand 10-course banquet, Sheraton Imperial’s Year of the Horse celebrations offer a sophisticated blend of heritage and contemporary flair that reminds us why this hotel remains a cornerstone of KL’s hospitality scene.
